A minimalistic approach has been taken to the design of this space, to create a hub that encourages a 'speculation of the arts’, whilst
paying homage to Susannah Place. Inspiration has been drawn from the heritage structure and bespoke nature of each clients’ craft to create a collaborative space that highlights differing
creative fields. Consideration and constraint were taken in this design so as to create a unanimous space that compliments each clients crafts whilst bringing to fruition the common theme of ‘creative production’. Certain steps have been taken to intertwine each clients practice; including
collaborative transitional spaces, a multifunctional open basement plan, and use of glass and void spaces to maximise visual access throughout.
Initial stages of this project involved in-depth research of the original Susannah Place site as a heritage structure, in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of its cultural and architectural history; which we were then challenged to carry through and respect within our later design proposals.
