Readers' Digest Building,
80 Bay St, Ultimo NSW 2007
This task involved an in-depth site analysis, survey and graphic representation of the Readers Digest Building, which proposed a new intersection for corporate architecture; that of humanist principles and worker efficiency.
Designed by architect John James, this building has been recognised for its enduring historical qualities as it ties effortlessly yet obtrusively into the surrounding streetscape.
Through personal study and dissection of this building, a more overarching understanding of the synonymously Brutalist and Humanist qualities of the space and presence of such concepts within architecture as a whole was discovered. Confidence in regard to the surveying and analysis of a pre-existing space for reconstruction or intervention was also improved.
